What is the medical pain management specialty?

Pain management physicians specialize in diagnosing and management of chronic pain. Chronic pain is long-term and often can’t be totally eliminated. More than 50 million Americans are currently living with chronic pain. It can severely affect your sleep at night, concentration during the day, and can make even simple tasks much more difficult.

The goal of pain clinics is always to attempt to eliminate the pain. Pain management specialists can sometimes do so, but when this is not possible, the goal is to ease your suffering and improve your quality of life. The approach often includes a combination of physical, behavioral, and psychological therapy options. Alternative medicine may also be included in treatment plans, such as acupuncture and massage therapy.

Pain can come from a wide range of disorders and diseases. Pain can be caused by surgery, injury, nerve damage, metabolic problems such as diabetes. Sometimes pain may not have an obvious cause.

Here at BackFit Health + Spine, we focus on relieving pain through an interdisciplinary approach to treatment. From chiropractic to physical therapy to our medical team and pain management procedure centers, our goal is to reduce your pain and raise your quality of life.

If you’re unable to work, our goal is to help you return to it as quickly and painlessly as possible.
